Humberto Almeida

Brazilian-born pianist Humberto Almeida is a Doctorate graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Considered in his youth by prominent newspapers in Brazil as one of the most talented pianists emerging in its national scenario, Dr. Almeida has collected many awards for his performances and studies in his native country and abroad. In 1993 Dr. Almeida made his debut with the Campinas Symphony Orchestra at the VII Eldorado Prize, Brazil’s most renowned music contest; the following years he performed and made TV appearances as a soloist with major orchestras in Brazil.

Since moving to the United States, Dr. Almeida has performed several recitals in the Americas and Europe, frequently working with distinguished musicians both as a soloist and collaborative pianist. While living in Auckland, New Zealand for 16 years, Dr. Almeida became the Vice-Principal of Able Music Studio, where he has had a significant role forming young musicians; many students from his school have won first prize awards in international competitions and were accepted at major universities in America, England and Australia. His reputation as an outstanding musician and teacher has placed him among the most sought-after piano teachers in New Zealand.
